And so the Amazonification of eBay Continues
.
Because I manage seller accounts on both eBay and Amazon, I often go back and forth between the two sites several times in an hour. Imagine my surprise today when I was goofing around on eBay and typed in the search term ” Chitty ” and the when the results were returned, I thought for a brief moment that I was on Amazon.
The Reviews for the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang DVD showed up along with the results telling me that there were 15 items ranging from $3.80 to $14.87
When I clicked to view the 15 listings, I noticed that the results that were returned were lacking the “Time Left” information for all fixed price items and the shipping costs for each individual listing (normally shown on the search results page) was missing.
NOTE: The list of eBay stores offering the item, normally appearing on the left hand of the screen, is no longer shown at this level of the search so one of the advantages of having an eBay store is gone.
Clicking on the Search Options gave me the screen to narrow down my search to items only on eBay.com or only in the U.S. or items that were listed as auctions or only items that include free shipping, for example.
It will be interesting to see what happens this coming week when the new fixed price fees go into effect and the new Best Match search criteria, which will only give weight to the time ending for auctions, rolls out across the site.
