Amazon Update: Country Codes Included on Order Reports
![]()
Beginning October 1, 2008, the new data field containing the 2-letter country code associated to the buyer’s billing address will appear in order reports. This is in addition to appearing in the Amazon Services Order Notifier (ASON), Event Notification Web Services (ENS), and Seller Central Manage Orders.
Amazon is providing this information to help you determine the country in which your customer is located. The U.S. Department of Commerce regulates the export of most commercial goods and requires export licenses for certain types of commercial goods. In determining whether a license is required, the Department of Commerce considers several factors, including the item’s technical characteristics, the destination, the end-user, and the end-use. Export control obligations can even apply to regulated products that are initially shipped to US addresses if the final destination is outside the US.
As the seller of your products listed on Amazon.com, it is your responsibility to ensure that any products you export have the proper export authorization and licensing, if required.
For information about your export compliance obligations, please visit the Bureau of Industry and Security at http://www.bis.doc.gov/index.htm.
