Amazon Selling Coach sent Special 2009 Holiday Alerts to 3P Sellers
In July 2009, I reported that Amazon was sending emails to sellers alerting sellers when previously sold items were out of stock so that merchants could put desirable items back in stock. Just a few months later Amazon began sending emails to sellers much sooner so that inventory with low stock status, not just out of stock status, was identified and pointed out to 3P sellers.
During the 2009 holiday selling season, we received emails from The Amazon Services Selling Coach which alerted us to Low Inventory. The Subject Line of the emails were titled “Special Holiday Alert: Keep Your Fast-Selling Items in Stock“ . The email from the Amazon Selling Coach begins with the following:
“As a courtesy to sellers on Amazon, we routinely monitor inventory levels. On December 19, 2009 we identified the following items that are either out-of-stock or could become out-of-stock soon based on your 7-day sales volume. If you would like to keep selling these items, now would be a good time to restock.”
The email included a column which listed the number of items that sold within the last week, a column for the number of items currently in inventory on Amazon, and a final column with the number of days coverage left.
