eBay Neutral are Still Negatives for Markdown Manager Email Notifications

Whenever a seller uses the eBay Markdown Manager to discount items temporarily, they have the option of sending out an email notification to all the people who are signed up for that seller’s newsletter.  The subject line for the Markdown Manager sale notification is”

eBay Seller Email: Sale! Shop my eBay Store for big savings

Now, what is interesting about the email that is sent out for the Markdown Manager notification is that it seems that a seller’s feedback percentage is STILL lowered by neutral ratings.  In the examples below, I am showing the seller PeriodPaper because I am signed up for their newsletter.  I like to keep up with sellers who have won awards and PeriodPaper has won a few awards for having a great looking store.

Notice the feedback number above is 8921 and the percentage is 99.6% with 4,144 positives in the last 12 months along with 1 negative and 9 neutrals in the same time period.  That percentage doesn’t seem right because 1 negative for 4,144 positives would still yield 100% feedback percentage if neutrals are no longer counted.  The 100% percentage is what actually shows on eBay when you view the seller’s public feedback profile (notice the same 8921 feedback number but this time the percentage is 100%):

I have pointed out this discrepancy to eBay and it seems to be a very low priority for them and one they doubt they will even correct.  I can understand that this is not a pressing issue.  However, as I pointed out to eBay, it could very well cause sellers NOT to send out email notifications to the sellers informing them of their Markdown Manager sale because the feedback percentage is lower on that email than it actually is.  Many sellers do not want their repeat buyers to see a lower feedback percentage than the one that the seller actually earned.

I noticed this the other day and yes I don’t want to circulate a 99.9 instead of my hundred.
